Appearance

  • Color: Light coral-pink with glints of salmon — a classic Grenache rosé hue that hints at juicy red fruit.

  • Clarity: Brilliant and crystalline, signaling freshness.

Aromas (Nose)

  • Primary Fruit: Red berry scents dominate — think fresh strawberry, raspberry, and perhaps a hint of watermelon rind.

  • Citrus & Orchard Notes: A whisper of pink grapefruit zest and green apple adds lift.

  • Floral & Spice Accents: Delicate rose petal aromas mingle with a subtle white/black pepper note typical of Grenache.

  • Mineral Lift: A faint whisper of wet stone/mineral keeps the nose vibrant and lively.

Palate (Taste)

  • Fruit Expression: Juicy red fruits take center stage — strawberry, raspberry, maybe a touch of crisp red currant.

  • Acidity & Balance: Bright, refreshing acidity keeps the wine crisp and energetic, with the ~1% residual sugar adding just a hint of roundness without sweetness.

  • Texture: Light to medium body with a clean, refreshing mouthfeel.

  • Spice & Complexity: A subtle spice note (white pepper/ginger) enhances the mid-palate, while a touch of citrus pith brings brightness.

Finish

  • Length: Clean, dry finish with lingering red fruit and a refreshing citrus twist.

  • Aftertaste: Slight saline/mineral suggestion keeps it refreshing and food-friendly.

Food Pairing Suggestions

Pairs beautifully with:

  • Seafood: Grilled prawns, ceviche, or Ahi poke.

  • Salads: Beet & goat cheese salad with citrus vinaigrette.

  • Mediterranean: Mezze with hummus, olives, and fresh herbs.

  • Light Pasta: Lemon-cream linguine or pasta primavera.

This 2025 Grenache Rosé from San Miguel is a bright, approachable rosé with expressive red fruit, zesty acidity, and a whisper of spice — perfectly suited to warm weather sipping or pairing with fresh, vibrant dishes. Its slight residual sugar keeps it just off bone dry, enhancing drinkability without sweetness dominating the experience.

Production notes

Saigner, pronounced - sown - knee (my interpretation, not Webster's), which means to bleed in French. When we bring in our red grapes, sometimes we'll "bleed" or drain some of the clear juice to intensify the remaining red wine. There is some color that comes from the skins during the production process, so that's where the slight pink comes from. We then ferment the clear juice as a white wine, very cold and slow.
